The first thing we want to do is help you define the green corridors around Bracknell, starting in Harman's Water. When someone takes on the job of putting together a portfolio for an area we will list it here to avoid duplication of effort.

What is a Green Corridor? It is a piece of land  at least 20M x 40M, linear, connecting or fringing a larger open or green space. It is characterised by a mixture of trees and undergrowth. It includes hedgerows that are protected or protect-able by the 1997 Hedgerow Act.

So what does a portfolio consist of and how should you put it together? Our suggestion is to collate this information in a consistent manner. If you want to help you need to do to put together a portfolio, that sounds daunting but really it isn't.

A portfolio is just a collection of information: photos, surveys of plants and wildlife, land registry searches, information on purchase or lease of land, information from local resident.

Along with this we would need to register an interest with the Local Authority, creating an ‘Adopt a Green Corridor’ programme, undertake litter picks, look after fencing, carry out habitat improvement, winter feeding and post signs about what can be seen there.
